Galle — Asleep or just quiet?

We were last in Galle, the capital of Sri Lanka’s southern province and home to a historic 16th century fort, in 2018. The occasion was the (then) annual Galle Literary Festival, a wonderful weekend that showcased the beauty and diversity of the Fort. In between author interviews, lectures, gin tastings and a host of other events, most of which we commuted to in open-topped vintage Land Rovers, there were sumptuous meals and some great parties.
